Penal Law II

Law
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
Criminal law is fundamental in the training of all lawyers. The most common academic path in Portuguese Universities is followed here: Criminal Law I and Criminal Law II cover the introduction, the theory of criminal law and the general theory of crime. The study of the general theory of crime was started in Criminal I and takes up the entire course of Criminal Law II.

  • ObjectivosObjectives
The Criminal Law II curricular unit continues the path started in Criminal Law I, which consists of laying the foundations for critical and solid work with criminal law (constitutional, dogmatic, political-criminal and interdisciplinary foundations), which will allow the adequate resolution of practical cases. • MetodologiaMethodology
Teaching is based on two main pillars: the expository method; and the practical discussion of hypothetical or real cases of jurisprudence. It also consists of putting students' knowledge to the test, by carrying out practical cases and by direct questioning of the students. The evaluation has two components: a written component and an oral component, with a weight of 30% for the oral evaluation and 70% for the written evaluation. The written evaluation focuses on one written test, one research paper, solving practical cases and other tasks. The oral assessment focuses on participation in the class, either voluntarily or upon request.
