Pedro Medeiros takes his project "Reco" to international stages
The International Green Product Awards, which have been recognising sustainable products and services since 2013, once again highlight innovation and sustainability in the global market. This prestigious award honours projects from start-ups and established companies, granting distinctions in the categories of best product, best start-up, and most innovative concept.
In this context, within the scope of the Prototyping course unit of the Bachelor's Degree in Communication Design, taught by Lecturer David Palma, in partnership with the entity Loulé Criativo, the "Reco" packaging was born, through the creativity of student Pedro Medeiros.
It is a modular and circular packaging, designed to transport more than 30 different models of handcrafted lamps made from palm leaves, produced locally.
"Reco" is a simple and innovative solution, consisting of two pieces designed for the vertical transport of lamps, ensuring comfort and protection. The packaging is designed to be carried close to the human body, with a flat base that minimises impacts during transport and a cut-out that stabilises and displays the product without deforming it. In addition to serving the transport function, it conveys the sustainable and artisanal essence of the pieces.
This unique project is now in the public voting phase until 30 January 2025.
